A weekend in Belgium šŸ˜Š

Ahhh..!! 😊After an amazing trip to LUX, we added BRUSSELS to our diary.

We spent a wonderful weekend in Brussels on 30th and 31st March 2019. One should never miss visiting this place if you plan for Europe trip.

Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is the headquarter of Europian Union.

Brussels is usually a safe place but the risk is pickpocketing and small crimes in the train stations and subways at times. We have few friends who experienced the above petty crimes(targeting couples). So we thought its safer to join a group. We decided to go on walk tours.

How to get to Brussels ????

‘Regiojet’ and ‘Flixbus’ are the public transports. These buses travels throughout Europe. In which Regiojet provides a good hospitality on board. If not, trains are also available. All the way we travelled to Brussels from Luxembourg which was a 3 hours journey by bus, we reached the hotel around 6 am on 30th.

Accommodations:

There are numerous hotels in the city which have very good amenities. Prices varies depending upon the day which you are planning to visit. Our hotel prices were obviously higher than the regular days since it was a weekend. Yet one can pre- book hostels if you are looking for budgeted accommodations.

Our hotel was “Game of Rooms” situated near to the Gare Central station and it was a 15 mins walk to the hotel, medium value for the money. Plus point is its situated very near to the city centre and just few minutes walk.

Day 1: “VIVA” offers free walking tours for 2 hours with a guide, they give the best information about the city. We started at 10am, we were able to cover almost all the historical and market places in the city.

Below are the must visit places :

Manneken Pis

It’s the best known symbol of the people of Brussels

We were done with the first walk tour and we were amazed by the guide and decided to take another walk tour to the European parliament.

We had an hour time for the next walk tour and wanted to grab food. With the help of our guide, we rushed into a small sandwich shop at the square. Sandwiches were delicious…. yummy !!!!!

Walking tour towards the new Brussels…!!!

Food to try šŸŒšŸŸšŸ»

Belgium waffles are famous and never miss trying out one. Will find fresh waffles on the road sides which are sold on the trucks in the mornings. Solid taste….. !!!!

Fries

People interested having alcohol mostly try Belgian beers as they are world famous. Here are the few places to try out the best in Brussels .

Shopping :

This can be done anywhere in the city. Most of the souvenirs are the Manneken Pis idols available at all the shops.

Day 2 :

We started our journey to Tervuren(city in Belgium) for yoga workshop and inner engineering talk conducted by Isha foundation at Pachthof Stroykens. We had to take a train and a bus to reach the place. Enroute to Tervuren from Brussels is astonishing. Tiny houses on the road sides were amazingly built. I couldn’t take my eyes out off it.

The workshop went very well and we had to leave the place around 6pm back to Brussels to take our connecting bus to LUX.

  • Try to join groups.
  • Summer is the best time to visit.
